Answers to common questions, our policies, and how to reach us

Getting Started

Browse discounted deals from shops near you, send a request for the one you want, and the shop confirms if it is still available. You only collect it once the shop has accepted, using the pickup window and code shown in My Orders.

Yes. You need an account to send a request, track your orders, and receive updates about whether a shop has accepted.

AskUp only shows shops and deals in areas where we currently operate. If there is nothing near you yet, check back as we expand.

Requests & Payment

Only once the shop confirms your request. When you send a request, we place a temporary hold on your card, but nothing is taken. If the shop declines, or does not respond in time, the hold is released and you are not charged.

A shop has until 15 minutes before the pickup window starts to respond. If they have not confirmed by then, your request automatically expires, any card hold is released, and you are not charged.

Yes. You can cancel any time before the shop confirms it from My Orders, with no charge. Once a shop has confirmed and your card has been charged, cancellation is handled the same way as any other order issue, see "Report an Issue" below.

Once a shop confirms your request, My Orders shows a verification code for that order. Show it to the shop when you collect so they know it is you.

If you do not collect within the pickup window shown on your order, the order is treated as fulfilled and no refund is issued, since the shop set food aside for you. Please only request something if you are confident you can collect it.

Issues & Refunds

Go to My Orders and use "Report an Issue" on the order in question. You can report an order issue from when the pickup window ends up to 48 hours after that. Reporting an issue puts that order's payment on hold while we look into it.

Formal order disputes are only available within that 48-hour window after pickup ends, since that is also when payment to the shop is finalised. For anything outside that window, use "Report an Issue" and choose "General Issue", or use the Contact Us form, and we will still look into it.

Automatically, 48 hours after the pickup window ends, provided no issue has been reported on that order. Reporting an issue within that window pauses the payment until it is resolved.

No. Deals are surplus or discounted food and contents can vary, so refunds are not issued for taste, portion size, or personal preference. Refunds are for genuine problems, like a missing order, the wrong item, or a food safety concern.

Account & Notifications

Those two channels are how we tell you the moment a shop accepts or declines your request, and remind you about pickup. Turning both off would risk you missing a confirmed order entirely, so they are kept on. You can still turn off push notifications, new-listing alerts, and marketing emails.

Go to Settings from your account menu to update your name, phone number, and notification preferences.

Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe. AskUp never sees or stores your full card details.

For Shops

From your Shop Dashboard, create a listing directly, or set up a reusable template that you can post manually with Quick Post or schedule to auto-post on the days and time you choose.

Automatically, 48 hours after the pickup window ends, as long as the customer has not reported an issue with that order.

If you have not confirmed or declined by 15 minutes before the pickup window starts, the request automatically expires and the customer is not charged.

If a customer cancels their own request before you have confirmed it, that does not count against you, it is recorded separately from a request you declined or did not respond to.
